Yearly Archives: 2008

So every Friday for the past few months I’ve developed this little routine. And for being a person with very little rhythm to my life, I’ve been loving the regularity to which I prepare for our Saturday weddings. I could give you a step by step process, but that would be boring, and quite frankly…. I’m guessing you don’t care. (I wouldn’t.)

But the cliff notes version looks like this: drag all the gear out of the office. lay it all out. lens check. lens clean. battery check. charge low batteries. organize memory cards. check camera time stamps. put gear in bag. format memory cards. pack them into card holders. hit the sack.

And just in case you are wondering how many memory cards a few wedding photographers use…. well about this many:

Yep. That’s 60GB. In 2 & 4GB cards. That way if a card takes a dive, there isn’t much at risk. Yet to happen. Yet.

So there you have it… the cliff notes version to our wedding day prep. We try to get everything checked out the night before so that if any gear is acting funny, we can swing by Glazers in the morning.

So about that hitting the sack step….

Well… at least in my opinion. But most people would disagree.

But either way, this past year I’ve jumped back into hockey after an eight year break. I grew up playing Junior B hockey, but had put my skates away for the foreseeable future.

But then I busted them back out. And it’s been a blast.

This summer season our team played as close to awful as possible. We went 2-9-1.

Horrible.

But we pulled our crap together just in time for the playoffs, beat the number one seed and found ourselves in the finals. We lost 1-0, but had a ridiculously good time doing it. Here’s a few pics that Whitney snapped the other night.

Random thought… is anyone irritated by how when watching the Olympics on the West coast it constantly says ‘Live’, but I can definitely look up the results online far before they are ‘Live’ on TV? Stupid. Don’t lie to me NBC. I’m not stupid.

………………………………………………………….

Second random thought…. I do the majority of my blog posting during the 23rd hour of the day. Hmmm.

The moment that Whitney first met Nena, she knew this wedding would be an absolute blast. And we weren’t let down in the least. Ridiculously. Awesome.

They went for a black and white wedding, so we went for a little black and white sneak peak.

Enjoy.

Travis+Nena… Wow. You guys are incredible. Your hearts, passion, style and flava are ridiculous. Your wedding far exceeded the high expectations we had in the phenomenal category. Thanks for letting us be a part! You rocked our faces off. And I didn’t even know that was possible.

Here’s a little sneak peak from the ridiculously awesome wedding of Deron+Melissa. They just so happened to be the very first folks to book us in good ol’ Seattle. And I’m not sure if they even knew that. :)

Deron+Melissa… we couldn’t be more thrilled to have gotten to know you both (and Marcus) over the past few months. You are an incredible joy to be around and have an incredible family full of more smiles and laughs than one can handle alone! We could not have asked for a better start to working in Seattle!

Today is my little brothers 21st birthday and I wanted to send him some internet love! His name is actually Aaron, but has long been called Merlin by our nieces and it stuck with the rest of the world. Merlin is currently living in Florida, and it has been way too long since we’ve seen his cute little face.

So here’s to the best little brother I could ever ask for! We love you bro! Happy Birthday!
